Spectacular Shellac

Saturday, July 17, 2021. 10 am - 4 pm, $225 (2 spots left)
Location: Portland, Oregon

In this class we'll use shellac mixtures to paint onto warm wax then super heat until it cracks, leaving an elegant organic finish that would be impossible to paint by hand. It's gorgeous!

This requires the use of a torch, so if you aren't familiar with how to use one you'll learn that too, while I emphasize both creativity and safety. I have mixtures in a variety of colors and will show you several easy ways to make your own custom colors at home.

All supplies will be provided so you can start paintings from scratch, but if you have paintings in progress please feel free to bring them in sizes up to about 11" x 14" so you can get right to experimenting with the shellac mixture.

Confirmation, directions to my studio and additional information will be emailed to each student upon registration. Space is limited to 5 students so classes fill quickly.

This is an intermediate class for those comfortable working with wax. If you haven't taken a beginning encaustic class you will have to complete one before learning this advanced technique. Feel free to call me with any questions.

NOTE: If the date you want is listed below then there is still room in that class.
