Taming Water NEW!
Sun, September 12, 2021 from 10 am - 4 pm. $225
Join me for this exciting new workshop where I will share my secrets for how to capture the spirit of one of my favorite things to paint: water. I'll demonstrate how I choose my colors of encaustic paint, work with layers of encaustic medium, when and where to add pigment sticks. You are welcome to use collage and other materials if you already know how to use them. I can't wait to see what you create with me!
If you've ever tried to paint water using encaustic, you know the challenges of creating that feeling of something beneath the surface. This is true whether you are painting a tropical ocean, a frigid lake, or a running stream. The techniques are essentially the same for all of them, but color, paint transparency, and a few other key techniques make all the difference. I'll take you through them step-by-step.
This intermediate class is for those already comfortable working with wax. You don't have to be an expert, but we won't be going over the basics in this workshop because there's so much else to cover. If you need to learn the basics first, please join us in my Encaustic & Collage or Intro to Encaustic Painting class.
All supplies will be provided and most students leave class with 1-2 finished projects. Confirmation, directions to my studio and additional information will be emailed to each student upon registration.
If you have trouble registering online please contact me at (503) 348-9139 or waxx@lindarobertsonarts.com. Classes must be paid for in full by cash, check or credit card prior to the class to confirm your spot. When your payment is received you will be emailed a confirmation notice, additional information about the classes and a map to my studio in NE Portland.
Please note: I am fully vaccinated! Class will be held in my private studio in NE Portland and will be held following CDC COVID-19 protocols. To keep everyone safer, everyone who enters my studio must show proof of vaccination, and cannot participate in classes until two weeks after their final shot.
Following the recently updated mandates, masks will be required inside and 2 artists will share a 6 foot table and one hotplate just like we used to. There may be up to 5 students in each class. I look forward to welcoming you back into my studio!
